Social & Behavior Change
Takunda employs a social and behavior change lens in collaborating with program participants to promote social change and the adoption of behaviors and practices that help achieve program outcomes. This is rooted in building the capacity of all our program personnel and community local service providers to be effective Behavior Change Agents, with good communication and facilitation skills, so they can negotiate for behavior change and lead activities to promote social change and behavior adoption.
We believe that people’s actions are influenced by a complex interplay of individual, social, and structural factors that determine their food security, nutrition, and resilience outcomes. Understanding these factors is critical to providing lasting solutions to poverty, food insecurity, malnourishment, and vulnerability. We use interactive, participatory strategies that address people’s needs and desires as well as barriers, and facilitators to change, and we integrate best practices from disciplines like human-centered design, anthropology, and social marketing. FHI 360 is the Takunda SBC Technical Partner, who provides technical support and guidance to all our program activities.
