WALTER MWASAA

Chief of Party

Walter Mwasaa, M.A., is a seasoned development practitioner currently serving as Chief of Party for Takunda, a USAID-funded Resilience Food Security Activity in Zimbabwe, implemented by a consortium led by CARE.

Over 18 years, he led programs in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, and Sierra Leone with a combined $204M worth. In Bangladesh, he led over 870 staff for Title II Strengthening Household Ability to Respond to Development Opportunities Program (SHOUHARDO III), concurrently as interim Country Director. Serving in the same capacity for the USAID/FFP Transformation to Food Security (T2FS) Program, and as Team Leader for CARE’s Livelihood Expansion and Asset Development (LEAD) MYAP Project; Mr. Mwasaa has an interest in working with youth and fostering gender equity in the workplace and supporting the development of localized solutions to development challenges.

Mr. Mwasaa is pursuing a Ph.D. in Development Studies, complementing a Master of Arts in Development Studies, Post-Graduate Diploma in Food Security, and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science
